About

Hydrology grounded in research and practical catchment understanding.

I am a hydrologist and water resources researcher with a PhD in Hydrology & Water Resources Management. My work integrates process-based hydrological modelling, field hydrology, climate analysis, GIS and remote sensing to understand runoff, erosion, floods, droughts and catchment response.

01

Research

Catchment hydrology, erosion, runoff-generating areas, climate impacts and sustainable water management.

02

Modelling

Hydrological simulation, calibration, validation, scenario analysis and reproducible scientific workflows.

03

Collaboration

Multidisciplinary research, stakeholder engagement, project coordination, technical training and scientific communication.

Experience

A professional research timeline.

Academic, project and field experience developed through hydrology teaching, watershed research, experimental catchment monitoring and international water-management collaboration.

2025

Assistant Professor — Hydrology & Water Resources Management

University of Gondar

Research, teaching and supervision in hydrology and watershed processes, with a focus on hydrological modelling, project leadership and scientific communication.

2024–2025

Project Manager — Sustainable Water Resources Management Under Pressure

Coordinated a multidisciplinary international project, including field data collection, hydrological modelling tasks, stakeholder engagement, reporting and catchment-scale water resources planning.

2017–2025

Lecturer & Researcher — Hydraulic & Water Resources Engineering

University of Gondar

Delivered teaching and research in surface water, groundwater, hydrology, water-resources systems and GIS; supervised student research and supported field training.

2019–2025

PhD — Hydrology & Water Resources Management

Addis Ababa University

Thesis: Modelling spatial patterns of runoff-generating areas and soil erosion in the Dirima Watershed, Lake Tana Basin, using the SWAT+ model.

2015–2017

Assistant Lecturer — Water Resources & Irrigation Management

Supported teaching through hydrometry, laboratory work, fieldwork and student research projects.

Research Focus

Water, climate, catchments and resilience.

My research interests centre on understanding how catchments respond to climate variability, land management and hydrological extremes, and how modelling can support better water-resources decisions.

H

Catchment Hydrology

Runoff generation, water balance, erosion, sediment processes and watershed response.

F

Flood & Drought Risk

Hydrological extremes, flood estimation, drought assessment and resilience analysis.

C

Climate Change

Scenario-based impacts on streamflow, water resources and catchment behaviour.

W

Water Resources Management

Sustainable catchment management and water resources planning.

G

GIS & Remote Sensing

Spatial analysis, environmental mapping and Earth observation.

N

Nature-Based Solutions

Land and water management interventions for catchment resilience.
